Fancy Nancy Bedroom

After we moved into our new house (a year later!), we decided it was time for Lorelai's new room to get a bit of an upgrade. She is after all four! Good-bye toddler room. Hello BIG GIRL room! After much debate, it was decided that the room would be themed in Fancy Nancy - a favorite book character and style icon. (And a personal favorite of ours because she shares Lorelai's ginger locks!)

To create this posh place - we started with a search for the perfect bedding. As luck would have it we found the perfect purple and pink princess themed bedding on Overstock.com. It was a steal!

I added a fitted white sheet over her box spring, cut two horizontal rows of slits around the top of the sheet, and tied on strips of pink and purple tulle (40 yards total!) to make a tutu bed skirt (tres chic!).

Lorelai was thrilled with the addition of stick on rhinestones that we scattered throughout the layers of tulle. As Fancy Nancy would say, "Those are genuine fake diamonds!"

Next up I ordered a poster from Amazon.com featuring our star herself.

A black poster frame was adorned with purple glitter tape, jewels, and scrapbook tidbits (and a whole lot of hot glue!) and viola!

Now we have one fancy poster frame for our poster. Amazon.com had the perfect wall decals too!

The big one even looks like it's painted on the wall.

I ordered some glamorous bookends to keep her Fancy Nancy books orderly and am anxiously waiting on them to arrive. I'll update this once we've got them so you can see the final product! In the meantime here is the Etsy listing...

We were able to reuse the butterfly lamp from her toddler room (yay!) so we didn't need to pick up another night light for her.

And we also reused her name letters and butterfly/flower decorations that I had made for her toddler room.

Lorelai was adamant that she needed a clock, despite the fact that she can't tell time yet. But since she really wanted one, I ordered her this really cool water powered clock (in pink) from Amazon. It's completely water powered! No electricity! I love it!

And as a final touch, I think I'm going to glitter her light switch plate cover. Because really, who doesn't need a little sparkle in their lives?

I hope you enjoyed seeing her new bedroom as much as I enjoyed decorating it. Stay tuned tomorrow for a Fancy Nancy GIVEAWAY to celebrate!!!
